“I ordered the 2nd grade lesson plans for my daughter because the plans included First Reconciliation and First Communion materials. Preparing her for these holy sacraments with CHC plans was a wonderful experience. My daughter loved the plans and she especially liked making the Holy Mass book with holy cards. We placed the pages in a small photo album and she often flips through the album admiring her hard work and remembering this important sacramental year.”

“I'm looking forward to using CHC's plans for our daughter's sacramental preparation next year. Last year we used them for our son and couldn't be happier with them. He actually cried from joy after his First Communion! Your materials are such a blessing to the Church. Thanks for everything!

“I would like you to know just how much my family is enjoying CHC's second grade lesson plans. The religion supplement is worth at least twice the cost of the whole program. I can't compliment you enough on it.”

“We have been using your lesson plans for two years now - kindergarten and 1st grade. I have older children and dabbled in designing my own lesson plans and curriculum for a few years. I can tell you that your lesson plans take all the stress out of planning for me. Even if I don't have time to plan any extras, I can just open the planner on Monday and start right in with the day's assignments. If we do want to do something a little different, we just note it in the planner and everything gets recorded all together.
Some days my son whizzes ahead with his work and others he goes at the gentle pace set forth in the lesson plan. Always we benefit from the tips and inspiration included in each weekly plan. The planner also helps us keep our focus on our Catholic faith, with reminders and enrichment activities such as "church manners" and Marian, Christ and saint coloring pages. The guides are full of helpful information I refer back to throughout the year, especially when one of us hits the doldrums. The weekly activity suggestions are often helpful in adding variety to our schedule. We enjoy using the chore chart and character building cards. He will frequently pop out a memory gem weeks after he worked on memorizing it. He's not big on coloring pages but does enjoy the cut and paste activities.
I like that the planner and guide are loose, rather than bound in a book format, that way I can either put the pages in a big binder, or split them up into smaller, more portable sections. When we are on the road, the planner is easy to pack and keep us on track.
I particularly appreciate that the lesson plans are separated into core and non-core studies. If my son is struggling with a reading or math concept, I am perfectly comfortable in letting the social studies or handwriting, or other non-core subject slide in favor of spending a little extra time on the challenging core subject.
Thank you so much for taking the stress and anxiety out of lesson planning and prioritizing. School is actually fun!

“I think we all benefited from the First Reconciliation and First Eucharist preparation. My older kids couldn't help hear and see what was going on and it was so exciting that we all talked about it a lot. The old stories and beautiful explanations made it an amazing year.”

“If I were to describe my dream curriculum, it would be simple, thorough, academically sound, flexible, and filled with the beauty of our Catholic Faith. I've found all this and more in Catholic Heritage Curriculum's second grade lesson plans. This latest resource from CHC contains much more than just weekly lesson plans - it's a guidebook that contains just about everything you could possibly need to make this school year your best ever. . . The appendices alone are worth more than the purchase price! CHC has a knack for teaching in a gentle, simple way that always incorporates Our Holy Faith. My family is really enjoying these supplements, and best of all my children are understanding and retaining what they learn.”

“Reading through the second grade lesson plans has inspired me to work on creative projects. I just love all the additional ideas for Mom, liturgical seasons, the month and the week! CHC makes homeschooling fun and inspiring, even in the midst of winter doldrums!”

“I am so excited to start on the CHC second grade lesson plans as I prepare my daughter for receiving the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist this year. Your lesson plans for sacramental preparation are beyond compare. They are gentle yet thorough and sound in catechesis. There is no 'twaddle' or fluff here. I love your slogan - 'Educating for Eternity' - for isn't that the true goal of Catholic education? Thank you for helping us live the faith and pass it on meaningfully to our children.”
- Christine |
“These Second Grade plans are just wonderful - that sounds pathetic written down, but I truly mean it. The introduction to the religion supplement is beautiful and the explanation of working with the 'tender conscience' of the young is the best that I have seen. The entire supplement would be well worth the cost of the plans.”

| “Thank you for being here for us homeschoolers. I have always used CHC until this year (5th). I signed up for [Catholic packaged curriculum] with their counseling and turning in work. I paid a lot for it and it lasted a couple weeks before I got really frustrated and quit and lost all the money. I think [the program] is okay if your kids is at the learning level they think your child should be at (and you can sit daily without distractions to get the work done on time), but otherwise it is too much pressure to try to make my child the same as other children and pressure on my family to be on time with everything. I realized that that is why I homeschool, to adapt our year to our needs.
Thank you so so so much for selling your curriculum without having to turn in work, etc. I can take your curriculum and adapt it to our needs without pressure. You also allow families that could not afford [the Catholic packaged program] to be able to have guidance and to be able to homeschool... If it wasn't for CHC I believe I would have given up on homeschooling. God will reward you for your kindness in selling the curricula without making people enroll their children and turn in work...”

“My 2nd grader will be making her First Communion in a few weeks, and I can't tell you how happy I am with your preparation program. She knows and loves our Eucharistic Lord and can't wait to receive Him on that special day. She made her first Confession a few weeks ago and wants to go regularly to keep her soul "pure and clean for Jesus." What a joy! ”

“As a new home schooling family, I have to share with you how blessed I am to be using the CHC Curriculum Guides. WOW! It just doesn't get any easier than this. I know exactly what I need to do each day, yet the program is flexible enough that if you wanted to say, switch out a different math program, there's no problem. Everything is covered in the guide, from what pages to do in a particular text, to the supplemental guides in the back. I am particularly fond of the 2nd grade lesson plans that we are using this year. The First Communion Prep Guide is second to none for getting a child ready for both the sacrament of reconciliation and First Communion. I highly recommend.”

“We are in our 3rd year with CHC. Our 2nd grade son has been so enthusiastic about the Social Studies project with the continents. Our son is an audio learner and is overwhelmed with too much "visuals." Thus, we used the continents projects as "organizing" instead of "regurgitating" information which resulted in my son being thoroughly excited to learn how to put information together in a sensible way that he could use later to narrate to people. Thank you so very much for your outstanding Lesson Plans. As parents, we are so inspired by your Lesson Plans that we find ourselves growing in leaps and bounds alongside our children. We were so inspired to discover that in Antarctica, they have a shrine to Our Lady of Snows at the McMurdo Research Station. How exciting it is to find that others share our faith, even so far away. Catholic Heritage Curricula Lesson Plans are thoroughly complete in all school subject areas, and so rich! ”

“I really cannot say enough wonderful things about the Lesson Plans for 2nd grade. The First Communion preparation is so wonderful and so full. It truly digs deep into our beautiful Catholic faith and brings it alive for a child about to receive Our Lord for the first time. The child I used these plans on, I feel, knows more about Our Lord in the Eucharist than my previous children. Thank you for putting so much into these plans.”

“I have used your lesson plans from the very beginning and I am ALWAYS amazed by what I receive in those packets. It is just chock full of amazing ideas and helpful hints and the resources are timely and well thought out. Your system has helped me to be able to continue to homeschool on bedrest pregnant with my 7th child! Anything that could do that is worth much more than you charge for the lesson plans! LOL! There are friends of mine who after looking at my lesson plans have decided to buy it as an addition to everything that they are using, just because they like what they see. There is something to bowl me over every year, and things to come back and enjoy throughout the year. Thank you for the thought and love of family that is so evident in your lesson plans...you have blessed my family and made homeschooling a reality!”

“Thank you, thank you CHC! This order is for our oldest son's 3rd Grade year and will be our 4th school year with you. After completing his 2nd Grade year using ONLY CHC Lesson Plans, our son was sad that school was over for the summer. We completed the fabulous 7 continents projects and my husband and I are amazed at the wealth of knowledge he studied, organized, and has retained! We were on a field trip where his knowledge of Asian and African elephants even stumped the museum docent! Thanks to your 2nd Grade social studies Tour of the Continents, my 8 year old son has grasped the concepts of a large world with different cultures and our Catholic presence in each and every one. What an amazing blessing to discover an Our Lady of Snows shrine in Antarctica put up by the local research facility! ”

“We began using CHC materials before becoming Catholic, while we were exploring conversion. Our children were so blessed to have the 2nd grade First Communion prep materials and all benefited from the gentle, orthodox and natural approach to this sacrament. In addition, it has been wonderful to have history, geography, and science materials that are compatible with Catholic teaching. We have so much enjoyed learning as we go, along with CHC materials, which we have trusted with confidence to be faithful to the Magisterium, and which have gently guided our family in integrating the Faith with life and learning.”

“I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate CHC! Your materials and lesson plans are wonderful. My daughter who is preparing for her First Communion has especially enjoyed your supplement for 1st Communion. I have also benefited from your tips and suggestions especially on your suggestions for reading prior to teaching my daughters. "The Faith Explained" is a great book! Thank you so much for your support during our first year of homeschooling.

“I just wanted to let you know how very impressed I am with all of the CHC materials that I have received! Everything is simply beautiful, of such high quality, and extremely well thought out. I purchased your 2nd grade curriculum primarily to help prepare my daughter for First Communion... The CHC religion supplement is exactly what we were looking for! I am especially thankful for the timeline and how you have the sections organized. We are all really looking forward to getting started! Thank you, again, for all of your hard work and beautiful products.”

“We use CHC Lesson Plans and curriculum exclusively since my oldest was in Kindergarten. My brother is a Catholic priest who is supportive of our decision to homeschool these past 4 years. I recently sent with him to read on the plane your 2nd grade Lesson Plan section on religion/preparing for First Holy Communion and your Little Stories for Little Folks book. He wrote to me that he was amazed and impressed with CHC's use of the Prodigal Son thesis to explain the Sacrament of Reconciliation as his order uses this as well, and that your presentation for both child and parent to understand this was truly inspired and right on. He loved the LSLF book, too! He has been astounded by our sons' grasp of the sacraments, knowledge of the saints, and joy of being a Catholic. Thank you CHC for keeping it Catholic!”

“CHC provides Lesson Plans for the lower elementary grades. They give you a day by day breakdown of what you need to do with your child. For people just starting out in homeschooling, or those with large families, these lesson plans are a God send. I love the supplements that are included in these lesson plans. For second grade, there is Sacrament preparation that goes hand in hand with the Faith and Life religion series. There was a "tour of the church" that helped my son understand the whats and wheres in church. ... Even if you opt to use a different book than CHC recommends for a particular subject because your child is advanced or behind in a particular area, these lesson plans will work for you. There are empty spaces where you can fill in extra or different activities. There are projects and coloring pages as well as ideas for reinforcing math facts and games to play with your child to help them learn. We enjoyed a supplement called "Tour the Continents." I learned things about each continent while teaching my son. All in all, I love this product!”
- Christine, MA |
“Thank you for the beautiful supplement in the 2nd grade lesson plans to help me prepare my son to receive his sacraments this year -- he loves all of the stories and activities, and I love that he is being prepared deeply, but gently, for this most important moment of his life so far. Thank you so much -- we are having a great year with you! God bless you and keep up the good work you are doing for all of us homeschoolers and for the Lord.”
- Angela, CA |
“I am currently using the second grade material. Both my child and I truly love your materials that prepare the 2nd grader for Holy Communion. The stories and other ideas help to bring this special time to life. Thank you!!”
