CHC’s approach to high school is tuition-free. However, tutoring and counseling are available for a fee; you pay only for services of your choosing.

Writing Classes and Tutor:
Two, 12-week courses in expository writing are available to prepare the student for high school and college-level composition. Classes include two writing assignments per week. Classes are taught using Jensen’s Format Writing as the core. The cost for the 12 week course is $300 per student. Teacher guides the students through the material, giving assignments, and grading work by e-mail. Students completing both classes will earn one full year of English credit. Click here to enroll. CHC High School Level Writing I and II Synopses:
Expository Writing I: Foundations of the Essay
A 12-week course in expository writing, to prepare the student for high school and college-level composition. Class includes two writing assignments per week. Classes are taught using Jensen’s Format Writing as the core. The course will cover all lessons through p. 52, concluding with "Seven Sentence Exercise #1."
Expository/Essay Writing II
A 12-week course in expository writing, to prepare the student for high school and college-level composition. Classes are taught using Jensen’s Format Writing as the core. Students must have completed Expository Writing I before enrolling in this class. Three classes per week; approximately two writing assignments per week. The course will begin with Five Paragraph Essays on p. 53 and progress, if possible, through p. 75, "The Comparison Essay." [Some students will be more advanced and may be capable of progressing farther through Jensen's than others.] The teacher may use selections chosen from The Catechism of the Catholic Church, Declaration Statesmanship, or Our Life in the Church [Faith and Life Series #8] [available from CHC] to suggest, or as the basis for, essay topics. Students need to have these books, new or used, on hand before classes begin.
Writing Tutor: available to critique essays or papers on an individual basis. Individual essays reviewed without enrolling in the full class: $20 each essay. [For works that are over 5 pages in length the cost would be $5 for each additional page.] This fee includes a general critique of the essay with suggestions and feedback. Further reviews for the same essay: an additional $15 per review. Click here to enroll.
Math Tutor: available for additional math help or support; tutoring available for all levels, through Algebra I, II, Geometry, and Trigonometry. Summer tutoring available for those who are struggling or who wish to get a head start.
