Question: Our second grader is having trouble reading Devotional Stories for Little Folks. He isn't at this reading level yet; do you have any other readers that are easier?
Answer:

Dear Homeschooling Mom;

Students who began with CHC's reading program in kindergarten and have progressed to second grade are usually prepared to read Devotional Stories for Little Folks. Students who have used a different phonics program or not completed Little Stories for Little Folks by the beginning of second grade year might want to use this program, first to assess their student's reading level, and then to bring the student up to grade level.

Beginning with Level 1 of Little Stories for Little Folks, have the student read each story until it becomes evident that the student is faltering. Then, stepping back a few stories below the 'falter' level, use the readers to bring the student up to the expected reading level. Be sure to complete the Little Stories for Little Folks program to ensure that the child is well prepared for the next grade.

May Our Lord bless and guide your homeschooling days,

Nancy Nicholson
