Question: My daughter will be 3 in 2 months. She and I have been doing "homework" for several months now, which is basically learning shapes, numbers, colors, lots of coloring, etc. She is very smart and has a great vocabulary, can count to ten in Spanish and English and knows how to count objects and identify most colors. My question is, when should I start her preschooling?
Answer:

Dear Parent,

Thank you for your question!

It sounds as though you are already unofficially teaching preschool with her, which is terrific! I would suggest obtaining the Pre-K/K lesson plans, and beginning her with the kindergarten program but only if you think she is ready. Because the grades come as one packet, you can look through the preschool program to make sure that she hasn't missed anything. If she is ready for kindergarten, you will already have the lesson plans, and if she isn't you can keep the kindergarten program for when she is. No matter what age, it is important to begin schooling at a very relaxed pace, to help your child grow accustomed to schooling and get her started off on the right foot. It sounds as though you are naturally incorporating learning into her life, which is wonderful to see!

God bless you and your family!
