Question: I have a delicate question. I know a lot of Catholic homeschool families who are using charter schools and also use Protestant materials. How do I encourage/convict them of the importance of using Catholic materials and not to sign up with a charter school thereby risking our homeschool freedoms? Please reply and thank you. Thank you for providing us with wonderful Catholic materials.
Answer:

Dear Mom,

Amen. I am with you 100%. When I began the journey into homeschooling, so many years ago, I knew from the start that if I was going to put the effort into such a lifestyle then I would only use Catholic materials. Now, to be sure, there are those times when for economic reasons I may be forced to compromise on a book or two but for the most part my homeschooling brings me more peace when I am teaching from a Catholic point of view.

Cost for cost the materials that are available from CHC and like-vendors are produced with the highest standards and attention to the priority of Catholic education. I can speak with candor with regard to CHC. The persons associated with this company are truly in the business of providing materials that will uplift and encourage each family no matter their situation. CHC feels strongly that they are a ministry and in every sense of the word they work to accomplish this goal. To me it just makes no reasonable sense to forsake our freedoms etc. to 'taste' just a little of the public system.

In the same respect, however, I must say that each parent has the right to do what they feel is best for their family. I like to assume that parents give over their efforts in prayers and request the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We must pray as well to uplift all parents no matter the situations they must weather. It is vital that we think first in terms of support instead of conflict.

Let us offer our prayers today for those parents that are facing situations that are sorrow-filled. Let us give our prayers to these dear ones and ask the tender Jesus to embrace them in a tangible way.

Sending out a prayer,

Rita Munn
