Question: My 4th grade son has dyslexia and we have completed the Davis Dyslexia Program recently. We use the CHC materials with the exception of MathUSee due to the dyslexia. He has standardized testing this year for ND. We can use any test but I was wondering if you have heard of one that is more friendly to a child with dyslexia? The Davis method has helped with his reading incredibly and we continue to use the method with CHC curriculum. FYI for other parents, another thing that we have found are the products at balametrics.com to be a great asset to improving his ability to read and learn. My other children love it also! Thank you.
Answer:

Dear Parent,

Thank you for your question!

I do not know of any particular standardized test for children with dyslexia.  However, I know that dyslexia falls under the category of special needs.  Because of this, children with these needs are given special consideration when taking these tests.  I know that in many cases the test administrator can help the student during particular parts of the test.  My suggestion is that you contact your local school district, in the special education department, and see what extra considerations can be provided when he takes the tests. This will give you a good idea of how you can ensure that the test accurately reflects his content knowledge and academic skills.

God bless you and your family!
