Dear Mom,

Do not be afraid. You can do this. The first step is prayer. It may sound trite to suggest such a simple beginning but I want you to know that prayer is power. Prayer moves the heart of an Almighty God and that is definitely the kind of help we need.

I would suggest that you purchase High School of Your Dreams for now. Start slowly and research the websites listed making a list of those that will appeal to your children. Purchase spiral bound notebooks for each child and for each subject that they tackle. Require that the children do research both on the internet and at the library on those subjects of interest. This assignment should keep them moving forward until that time that you can purchase curriculums etc. Investigate the availability of homeschool cooperatives in your area. Get in contact with other moms who are homeschooling middle school aged and high school aged children. Offer to buy lunch or make lunch for the mom/moms and be prepared to take notes as they give you the benefit of their experience. Ask that they bring some of their best resources for you to see. Take your time and study what you think will work for you.

If you already know the curriculum provider that you want to use, then by all means JUMP in and begin. You can do this and you will be great when you do. Accept that homeschooling is a process and a journey that becomes a lifestyle. Let it unfold slowly and you will find that you can learn as you go.

Let us pray for those families whose homeschooling efforts and whose lives have been interrupted due to natural disasters. Lord we ask that Your graces shower these families and empower them to do what is necessary. We trust in Your care. Amen.
