Question: Hello there, I love your site and am excited to use your materials as I plan on homeschooling my children. However my daughter is only 16 months old and I was wondering if you could recommend materials that are appropriate for her age? I see that you have items for pre-schoolers but I think that might be too advanced. Thanks for your help.
Answer:

Dear Parent,

Thank you for your question!

This is a wonderful age when children are learning about their environment through play and by your example.  They are also learning how to work with other children of similar age.  This is also a time when they need practice honing their small and large motor control through the use of simple activities such as coloring or playing on the swing.  Because they learn by example, it is a good idea to obtain picture books, and easy books such as Dr. Seuss, and read them aloud to her.  This is a gentle way to begin teaching her to recognize her letters and numbers.  I definitely do not recommend officially starting school until she is four or five.  It is important not to start too early, as this can be overwhelming and frustrating for the child.  Rather I would use this time, helping her learn about the world around her.

God bless you and your family.
