Question: I have been home schooling for 7 years, and just love it even with the occasional struggles. I have been loosing my stamina lately though and was wondering if switching curriculum would help. I was thinking of switching to CHC, but was wondering if there are whole packages for the grades that I am going to school. I am looking at 7th, 6th, and 3rd grade. I was also wondering how the curriculum runs, daily or weekly? Are there 4 quarters to each school year? Are there quarterly tests? Are there book reports to submit each quarter? Thank you so much for answering my questions.
Answer:

Dear Parent,

Thank you for your question!

One of the nice things about CHC's materials is that you can go at your own pace, and create a school schedule according to you and your family's needs. I would suggest buying CHC's lesson plans, and obtaining the recommended resources listed in the lesson plans as they will provide the most structure for you. If you browse through the lesson plans, you will see that the core materials are conveniently high-lighted. My suggestion is that if you are feeling a little overwhelmed, that you concentrate on getting through the core subjects each day, and maybe do some of the extra subjects when you have time. The lesson plans will provide a daily school schedule, as well as show you what is taught throughout the week. CHC's lesson plans offer 32-36 weeks of school. It is up to you how you wish to divide the weeks for the school year. You do not have to turn in daily, weekly, monthly or yearly reports to CHC. You will be the one responsible for the grading and testing. I recommend that you keep portfolios of your children's best work for each school year. CHC's curriculum is designed to go at the pace of the child and parents, allowing the parents to homeschool according to their specific needs.

God bless you and your family!
