What Do You Like to Do... Catholic Easy Reader and Keepsake Journal
Nancy Nicholson

Do you have a youngster who is positively famished to read more, but isn’t quite ready for chapter books? Or a student who needs just a little bit more practice, but is reluctant to go over the day’s reading lesson yet again?

The short stories featured in What Do You Like to Do... (for students who have completed Little Stories for Little Folks: Catholic Phonics Readers, Level 2) and What Can You Do... (for students who have completed Level 3) will please the “hungry” eager reader, as well as provide encouraging practice for reluctant readers. Both books include “journal pages” that not only give the child a special “ownership” of his book but also create a precious record of the child’s responses.

What Do You Like to Do... invites discussion and written responses about favorite pastimes throughout the seasons. Family-friendly story topics foster thoughtfulness, responsibility, and appreciation of our Holy Faith.

Features layflat perfect binding for ease of use. 25 stories.150 pgs. Illustrated. Softcover.  8½”x5½”

“My daughter really enjoyed having a book that she could make her own. She enthusiastically wrote her own journaling after the stories in What Do You Like to Do which significantly improved her writing skills. The stories and sentence starters really motivated her. I greatly appreciate the character-building conversations that were started by this precious book and it will make a lovely keepsake.”

“I have been very pleased with this book! My 7 year old son (first grade) loves it. It has captured his attention wonderfully. He gets excited when he can see that Mom is grabbing for this reader (vs some others we have). What child wouldn't be captivated by these chapter titles: Max likes to do tricks with his dog, Rob likes to fish, Tom likes to look for frogs? Since my son began this reader, his reading has improved in that he has picked up speed. I think the interest truly helps where he wants to see what happened and knows the only way he will be able to "find out" is to keep reading. The book takes children through the seasons, starting with Spring. It also gives the child a chance to add their favorite thing about that particular season. The spacing is just right for children of this age to write. This will make a wonderful keepsake for him as he fills in what he likes to do (e.g. in the Spring). There are also chapters that help build their Catholic Faith (e.g. "Alex likes to go to Easter Mass" (Spring), "Alma and Manuel like to dress up for All Saint's Day" (Fall) or "Dan waits for a happy feast day" (Christmas - Winter). I love too, that the book touches on helping others. The book is half-size, which makes handling it easier for children of this age. We love this book!! It has been a joy reading.”
